Irma Grese was a German SS guard during World War II, who served at the Nazi concentration camps of Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen. She was known for her cruel treatment of prisoners, and was one of the defendants at the Belsen trial. Grese was convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity and was sentenced to death. She was hanged in 1945, at the age of 22. Her trial and execution received international attention, and she became one of the most notorious female war criminals of the Holocaust.
